The girls won their first game yesterday, 16 - 10! We traveled down to Chestnut Hill and played Brimmer & May under threatening skies. Krissy Churchill, Katelyn Ming and Jenna Hunt established an early 3 - 1 lead and Katy Aldrich made some phenomenal saves. Sam Silverman, Eden Bellow, and Eliza kept shots coming and ended the half 10 - 4. Juliette Larzelere played center during the second half and put three points on the scoreboard. Mackenzie Amigo did a great job on offense, Kelly Malone played her heart out on midfield and defense, Danielle Salvucci helped keep the ball in motion on offense and Caroline Malloy took some great shots on goal. Kristen Larocque played a great game at defensive wing and saved us from an off-sides foul! The girls tried a new play called "lighthouse" and Krissy scored with a beautiful crease roll.
The best part of the game was Katy Aldrich becoming a true goalie. She followed the ball with her eyes, blocked shots with her body, and caught many would-be goals in her cross. The team was thrilled to see how hard she was working - and how well she did!
We ended the game with 16 goals: 5 from Jenna Hunt, 3 each from Krissy Churchill and Juliette Larzelere, 2 each from Eliza Woodworth and Sam Silverman, and extra points from Eden Bellow, and Katelyn Ming. The girls played with grace and intensity and treated the other team with respect. The coaches couldn't be more proud!
We have two more games next week: Waring (just down the road) on Tuesday and Chapel Hill (Iron Rail) on Friday - we'd love to see you there!
