First a huge thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc. who came out and supported us yesterday - we really appreciate your presence!
As it turns out, Montrose is a really good team. We ended up losing 16 to 5 BUT got compliments from the referees and Montrose's coach on how well the girls played. I'll give you the highlights in case you missed it...
The midfielders took the majority of this game on their shoulders. Jenna Hunt at center, Krissy Churchill and Sam Silverman at attack wings did not rest for more than a moment. Katelyn Ming and Meredith Hofmaier were essential in transitioning the ball from defense to offense and did more than their fair share of running! On defense, Amanda Doyle, Kristen Larocque, Sarah Streck and Taylor Smith fought the urge to go after the ball and created an excellent wall of defense around their goalie - Katy Aldrich (who did so well against so many hard, fast shots!).
On the other end of the field, Eden Bellow, Lacey Johnson, Eliza Woodworth, Lilly Nevin and Juliette Larzelere worked the ball around the net, made beautiful passes and ground ball pick ups and generally worked their butts off. Rounding off our team effort, Marissa Meads played her heart out on offense and defense, and Emma Gurley-Broudo used her lightening speed to keep up. Caroline Malloy and Mackenzie Amigo went onto the field with intensity and helped keep ball in motion. Ashley Holmes was in goal for her second time ever and made us all very proud.
Off of the field but not out of the loop were Missy Bernstein who kept our score book while resting her achilles tendon, Kelly Malone who was at home getting a chipped tooth capped, Kiley Davis who was seeing a doctor for a pulled muscle and Morgan Patrican, Danielle Salvucci and Kat Greer who had family obligations.
We have two games next week: Thursday at Brimmer & May, and Friday at Waring (postponed from the original Wednesday schedule). We'd love to see you there!
