The Girls Lacrosse team played Waring on Collins field in
their first home game of the season. The first half was a back and
forth battle
between Landmark and Waring. Katy Aldrich and Cathryn Garret put the
team on the
board with the team's first two goals of the game and their first goals
of the season. That set the pace for the rest of
the half. Goals by Rachel Smith, Morgan Barlow and Tori Clark, along
with hard
work from Mackenzie Amigo, Jess Ferris and Diane Churchill (not to
mention Maddy
Ferry’s 16 incredible saves) brought us to the end of the first half
only down
by 1. The second half began with 4 unanswered Waring goals and an
unexpected
goalie substitution, but this did not stop the team’s determination.
Maxie
Cataldo bravely stepped into goal making 7 saves in the second half.
With the
help of our tireless low defenders Meagan Doolan, Ashley Holmes and
Savannah
Hartigan moving the ball up to the midfield, Rachel Smith was
unstoppable
scoring 6 of Landmark’s 7 2nd half goals. Stephanie Scalon ended the
game on a high note with her goal with just 2 minutes left. Despite Landmark’s
efforts and never-give-up attitudes (and only having one sub) Waring left
Collins Field with a win.
