We played Pingree today in an out-of-league season starter. The girls played so well, you'd never guess that it was their first time on a field this season! We lost 15 to 9 (should have been 10), but the girls have so much to be proud of. First of all, without Maddy in the net, the score would have been 34 to 9. She made 19 beautiful saves and even earned some praise from one of the referees who said "your goalie is fearless!". We couldn't agree more.
Offensively, the game went to Rachel. She scored 6 goals (4 in the first half, 2 in the second) and ran herself ragged! Katelyn, Kiley and Danielle played a tireless and skillful game - plus they scored a goal each! Tori ran all over the field, played a fierce game and was thisclose to scoring her first goal! Mackenzie played a great game at second home and showed a lot of growth since last year. Also in the "greatly improved" category was Isabel who promises to be an essential part of our offense. Morgan made her debut on the team and we're so excited to see all that she can do.
Captains Kelly, Katelyn and Amanda played a solid, smart game. Amanda proved herself to be a leader of the defense while Kelly and Katelyn made essential connections in the midfield. Kristen reminded us all of how intimidating she is and Ashley wouldn't let anything stop her - not even slips into the muddy field. Katy also showed her improved defensive skills and played her hardest. Stephanie also gave defense a try and I know she'll have a great season. Last but not least, Diane jumped into the game and did a great job!
Tomorrow it's Megan, Jessica, Erin, Motoria, Frankie and Caroline's turn to shine - come see us on Collins at 3:45!
