On Monday, we traveled to South Boston to play Metro lacrosse. The coaches decided to start our JV players since they haven't had much playing time and they did us proud. Somehow, Metro put forth a much more talented group than the last time we played them in the pouring rain. Katy A. started in goal - her first time this season! She's been battling knee issues and we were thrilled she was up for some time in goal - and she made 6 great saves! Lucia A., Ashley H. and Jenna H. played some great defense and made important transitions to our offense. Mackenzie A., Isabel W., Kiley D., Savannah H. and Rachel S. played in the midfield. Thanks to Kiley's draws, Savannah's ground ball pick ups and Mackenzie & Isabel's constant running, Rachel scored each of our 3 goals in the first half. Lea M. made some great shots and continues to show us how ice hockey and lacrosse really aren't all that different. Morgan B. and Danielle S. completed our offense and made many great plays throughout the game. Stephanie S. tried out defense and, though she may tell you different, did a great job! Caroline M. and Kristen L. also joined their team in the first half and brought some much needed intensity to the field.
The second half started 10-3 (but not in our favor). We started Juliette L., Lea M., Krissy C., Eliza W., L. Nevin, K. Davis on offense and put Kiley D., Mackenzie A., Kristen L., Amanda D., Lucia A. and Taylor S. at defense. Maxie C. took over the goal and played a great, loud, aggressive game. Eliza scored three and Juliette made our final score 7. Unfortunately, Metro got 16. We left the field determined to improve our team play and spirit, and, thanks to an epic attempt at untying a "human knot" during Tuesday's practice, I think we're in much better shape now.
Thursday is our LAST HOME GAME. For the 9 seniors, this marks the end of a long road (6 years for Krissy C.!!). We'd love to see you at Collins, 4:00, as we take on Gann again. Let's hope there's no lightening this time...
