V-I-C-T-O-R-Y (x2)

That's right, not one but TWO wins to report!

Last week the girls played Metro Lacrosse in the rain. Not just a drizzle, serious rain from the first whistle to the last. Not to be deterred, the ladies fought for a 9-5 win! Seniors Juliette and Krissy each scored 4 goals and Kristen surprised everyone (including herself) with a phenomenal score towards the end of the second half (followed by an equally impressive 'touchdown' dance). Maxie played the whole game in goal and did an excellent job. Kiley played a really excellent game full of ground balls, interceptions, fast breaks, clean passes and defensive play. Amanda, Sarah and Taylor were their usual intimidating selves and often created turnovers simply by yelling "Got ball!" Lilly did an excellent job at center taking beautiful draws, while Eden, Eliza, Kelly, Caroline and Mackenzie worked through aggressive defenders and rain that just wouldn't quit.

Today, the JV took on Waring and turned in a 7-6 win. Although we're technically not two teams, we have 6 girls who have never played lacrosse and two who are new to our team. Savannah, Lea, Stephanie, Jenna and Morgan each saw their first minutes of play in a lacrosse game while Rachel and Maxie made their official Landmark debut (Sadly, Isabel was home sick!). From the first whistle, Rachel would not be stopped and scored 5 (yes, 5) of our goals! Thanks to some great passes and fast feet, Danielle and Kiley brought our total to 7. Ashley, Katy, Lucia, Jenna and Lea played great defense, while Savannah, Morgan, and Stephanie tried out offense. Mackenzie and Kelly brought their experience to the field and made some huge plays. Maxie played goal for the first half while Lea tried D-wing and they switched at half time. This is the first time in my 6 years of coaching that I have had TWO excellent goalies - it's awesome. In fact, all of the "newbies" were so energetic, focused and determined that I think the "old" girls better watch out ;)

We play for the parents tomorrow, 4:00 on Collins field vs. Chapel Hill. Let's see if we can turn 3-0 into 4-0!
