April 27 is officially "Defense Day"

Taylor S. is amazing. Her name has been mentioned in all of my posts but unless you've been at the games, you might not know just how important she is to our team. Today's game against Waring was a loss (17-3) but you'd never know that by watching Taylor. She plays fierce man to man defense, checks with precision and is somehow always exactly where she should be. She has become a star player on this team.

Just behind Taylor today was Maxie C. who really, truly became a goalie today. She made all of us so proud with at least 8 saves, an inspiring half time speech and a compliment from the opposing team's coach. We'll miss her tomorrow when she helps her other 'team' practice for the spring musical.

Lucia A., Amanda D. and Kelly M. rounded out our defense and they all deserve their own posts - but we have plenty more games for that.

Towards the middle of the field is another stand out, Kiley D. She might not be the tallest girl out there but she is good. Really good. She's fast, smart and a threat anywhere on the field. She can execute any position well and is an excellent sportswoman. Thank goodness she's only a Junior!

Captain Juliette L. also had a great game today, starting before the first whistle as she got girls geared up for the first of three games this week. She scored two goals, gave girls feedback on and off the field, and pushed Waring to defend her wily stick skills. Kristen L. scored our third goal and Rachel S. made Waring's goalie (the best in the league) work to stop more than 6 shots. Ashley H. continued to become a go-to girl by playing any position we need, and Lilly N. continued to develop her "fierce-ness"

Each girl who played today - and all of those who didn't - helped this become one of the best games we've played against Waring. Come see the girls take on Brimmer & May tomorrow, 4:00.
