The girls lacrosse team took on Montrose last Wednesday (4/25) on
Collins Field. The game was all about improvements. First of all, the
team improved
attendance numbers by having everyone there! A first of the year! In the
first
8 minutes, Montrose’s offense came out strong with 7 unanswered goals. A
timeout
was called, which refueled Landmark’s confidence, energy and positive
attitudes. Rachel Smith put the team on the board with the first goal
after the
timeout which started an upswing for the girls. A.Holmes, K.O’Brien,
M.Doolan, K.Aldrich and S.Scanlon improved their communication on
defense which
led to many caused turnovers and countless saves by M.Ferry continued
the
progress. Goals in the first half also came from S.Scanlon, M.Amigo,
M.Barlow. You wouldn’t have known the second
half was part of the same game. Defense allowed 3 goals the entire half,
which
was an immense improvement from the 12 in the first half. This was also
thanks
to hard work from S.Hartigan, M.Cataldo. On attack, D.Churchill,
J.Ferris and C.Garrett moved the ball well and made great cuts. T. Clark
popped in a goal followed by
a pair added my R. Smith and another by M.Barlow to finish the game.
Although
the final score was 10-15, the girls should be complimented on the
progress
made in the game and also their ability to not give up and persevere.
